DJ Zita is back. This time, it's a Family Affair.Once upon a time, not long ago, a group of soul sisters gave local nightlife a go… and a monthly party called Isis was born. The two rooms of Auntie Pasto’s on Kapahulu swelled and rocked til just past 2 o’clock, with sounds ranging from old-school hip hop classics to funky house and breaks to hard-rolling drum & bass, brought factions from all the tribes together under one beautiful unity vibe.

Rolling off the success of Isis, said Sisters In Sound moved the crowd downtown, and kicked off Escape. Partnering with Freeform Sound Collective, they expanded into Indigo’s larger spaces with performances by live bands and local hip hop crews to compliment the rotations of Honolulu’s DJ elite.

Sisters In Sound and Electro-Lyfe reconvene the round table at Indigo Saturday, August 11th , to fill up the Green Room and the Opium Den with an overflowing multitude of rhythms.

* Welcoming DJ Zita and turntable partner Dmadness back once again from numerous buzzing projects and Golden residences in the Bay Area (peep: djzita.com, http://www.myspace.com/djzita).

* Sister Ms. Angel will bring all that is house to the house. Diga ‘SoVery’ y ‘Casa’ tambien.

* Sister Chia and Direct Descendant Seeko will fill out the bill with signature freeform sounds and funky eclectic breaks.

* Sister and Electro-Lyfe resident Toki brings the drum & bass directly to your face. Featuring live vocal interpretations by Lady J.

* Residents Monkey and Jason Silingo will represent the finest in tech-house, electro and dirty punk disco from the resort towns of the Mediterranean to the gutters of Paris, New York and San Francisco.

Do You Remember the Time?

Sisters in Sound and Family @ Indigo 8.11.07We hope you remember.

Sisters in Sound had a successful monthly party for two years at Indigo, called “Escape”. Escape featured the Freeform Sound Collective, and also featured bands and hip hop MCs. Our taste in music is pretty diverse - from old school funk jams to club classics, intelligent drum and bass to conscious hip hop. The thread that ties it all together is our friendships, and our appreciation for the dancefloor and the need to lay it all out and have a good time!

On Saturday, August 11th, the Sisters in Sound return to Indigo. SIS DJs Chia, Toki (electro-lyfe), Ms.Angel (sovery.org, KTUH, Casa) and returning from the Bay Area DJ Zita (djzita.com), will be on the decks spinning favorite party jams and new dancefloor gems. Our family includes Monkey (electro-lyfe), Seeko, Jason Silingo, and straight outta SF, Dmadness.

Indigo is a favorite spot of ours - we’re rather fond of their martini bar, and if you get there early, you can still order pupus - and we’re looking forward to showing love to a spot we’ve got so much love for. Please join us! The party starts at 10pm and goes until 2am. It’s 21 and over, $7 at the door.

When have you ever peeped a fly sister smashing classic records all night long with shine, authority and pure flair?

Honolulu and Bay area partygoers know our super fly sister, DJ Zita. Since moving back to the Bay area several years ago, she has been busy organizing several monthlies, playing gigs all around, and putting out several mix cds. Her latest mix cd is all old school funk:

Lava Party w/Sisters in Sound @ Lotus 4.22.07

Sisters in Sound will be spinning at the Lava Party, afterparty for Honolulu’s annual Volcano party, on Sunday, April 22nd at Lotus Soundbar. SIS djs Toki and Chia will be spinning smooth grooves for all the beautiful people in town to celebrate at the annual Volcano party. This will be our second visit to Lotus Soundbar, which is located at 2301 Kuhio Ave in Waikiki. Even if you’re not attending the Volcano party, feel free to come by and say hello.

The Volcano Party is Hawaii’s largest gay event. The Lava Party at Lotus will be a benefit for The Gregory House, Hawaii’s statewide AIDS Housing Agency. Visit www.gregoryhouse.org or call 592-9022 for tickets & info.

Sisters in Sound invaded Lotus Soundbar on Saturday, February 17th 2007 and it was a success! Thanks to Lotus for letting us be there, thanks to our boys Seeko, Monkey, DJ King and Dmadness for the awesome tunes, and thanks to all of our wonderful friends for showing up! This was a great night, a night for greeting old friends and making new ones. The perfect way to kick off the Year of the Boar!
